Orthotics

How can Orthotics Help?

Orthotics can improve the functional alignment between the foot, knee, hip and pelvis, and if correctly prescribed can treat alignment problems and the symptoms they cause very effectively.

What issues can be treated with Orthotics?

Many problems that occur in the knees hips and the back can be linked to the kinetic chain and be effected by the mechanics in the foot. By correcting the position of the foot with custom made orthotics we can reduce many patients pain and often even eliminate it.

How are orthoses fitted?

Custom functional orthoses can be made easily we cast or get a impression of the foot and send these casts to have an individualised orthotic made according to your needs and preference – for example they can be made with a range of top covers so they are less conspicuous in the shoes, to different lengths and depths. Your podiatrist will discuss with you what you need from an orthotic and we can work together to make something that suits you.

We also have a wide range of prefabricated orthoses – many sizes and shapes and levels of control and these can be modified to suit your feet also. They are a good option in some cases and your podiatrist will discuss wether a prefabricated or custom-made orthotic will suit you best

Who can wear orthotics?

Patients of all ages can benefit from orthotics, young children easily adapt to wearing orthotics, they can be used by anyone from young person to older adults. They are typically prescribed as a part of a treatment plan to improve the function of your feet, or to offload areas of pressure in your feet.
